Williams-in-China (Hong Kong) Teaching Fellowships
Each year the college offers two teaching fellowships to Williams graduating seniors who will teach at the United College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). During their residence in China, the teaching fellows teach English or serve as teaching assistants in various departments, and study Chinese language and culture. The application deadline is usually in early spring. Interested students should self-enroll in the GLOW course Asia-related Funding Opportunities.
Chinese Government Scholarship & Huayu Enrichment Scholarship
Students interested in pursuing further language study in the People’s Republic of China or Taiwan can apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship or the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship. The department offers guidance and advice to students who are interested in pursuing these external funding opportunities. The application deadlines for these scholarships are usually in early spring. Interested students should self-enroll in the GLOW course Asia-Related Funding Opportunities.
Other Postgraduate Opportunities
Majors from our department have attended graduate programs in the U.S. or overseas (e.g., Cambridge University, Hopkins-Nanjing Center). Many of our graduates have been awarded prestigious national post-graduate fellowships (e.g., Fulbright Fellowships). Some of them have pursued other external funding sources (e.g., Blakemore Freeman Asia) to further their language study in Asia.
